PROJECT DETAILS
Creative Lab is a project outside of the school credit- and point-oriented system that aims to give future artists a different experience, closer to the one they will have after they graduate. The focus lies on students in their final year of study (either 3rd year of Bachelor or in the Masters) at Art Schools in Belgium. After a selection, the students will be grouped in teams of two and they will receive some art supplies and instructions in order to start working together. The works produced during this experiment will be shown at a final exhibition planned in March 2017.
What Creative Lab has to offer:
- An idea
- A context
- Art supplies/ material to work with
- A space for exhibiting
- Curatorial support
- Budget for the exhibition
- Freedom to experiment
The idea started in April 2016 from a collaboration between Alina and Ine. Alina has made a photograph and sent it to Ine. Four days later, Ine reacted with another work that was based formally or content-wise on the one Alina has made. And so on. The rules sometimes change. The material and the medium as well.
Now we want to encourage other art students to expand their own practice by means of a collaboration with an artist coming from a different field than theirs, by experimenting with other media and also fostering creativity through limitations and obstructions.
The selected participants for Creative Lab 2016 - 2017 are:
- Marta Galmozzi
- Anna Godzina
- Anouk Horsten
- Anestis Ioannou
- Inge Trienekens
- Zena Van den Block
